Facetted Stone Setting in Wax Workshop - $390 - Balance Payment
New to our range of workshops is Facetted Stone Setting in Wax. In this workshop, you'll carve a ring, learn to set create a setting, and set a facetted gemstone in a flush (gypsy) style of setting.
This workshop requires some previous experience working with wax and is not for complete beginners. You must have completed the Lost Wax Silver Ring Making Workshop, an equivalent workshop elsewhere or have skills in carving wax before enrolling in this workshop.
On the first half day you work with wax to carve your ring and create your setting. The wax rings are then taken to Melbourne to be cast in silver (included in the course cost) or gold or platinum (at an additional cost). We gather again for half a day one week later to set the gemstone into the ring and finish the rings up.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS HELD OVER TWO DAYS.
If you'd like to learn how to set stones that will then be cast in place, consider attending the Cast Set Stones in Wax Workshop. Only certain gemstones can be cast in place, these are stones that can take the heat of the casting process.
Written instructions, a list of suppliers, tool list and morning/afternoon tea are included. A gourmet lunch is also included on the first day. All tools and materials (except gold/platinum) are provided. A sterling silver ring weighing 15 grams and a gemstone are included in the workshop cost. If you would like to make a heavier ring, you can pay for the extra silver, which will be charged at cost price. You are also welcome to bring along your own gemstone to set.
If you'd like to buy a workshop as a gift but you're not sure what date the recipient will be able to go, you can purchase a Pod Jewellery Gift Certificate. This gives the recipient the flexibility to book into a workshop at a time that suits them.
Start time: 9:30am - 4:30pm on the first day and 12:30pm - 5:30pm on the second day.
Duration: 7 hours on the first day and 5 hours on the second day (12 hours in total)
Workshop location: Workshops are held at the Pod Jewellery Studio in Kyneton - a one-hour drive north of Melbourne along the Calder Freeway.
A $100 deposit is required to secure your place. The balance of $390 is payable one week before the workshop.
A minimum of two students must be enrolled for this workshop to run.
