Mitsuro Hikime Jewellery Wax

We are so excited to sell this incredible Japanese Mitsuro Hikime wax. This wax can be used to make the most stunning organic pieces of jewellery, which isn't possible with any other type of wax.

While Mitsuro Hikime has been around a long time, it's only now available as a ready-made wax and exclusively in Australia through Pod Jewellery.

Mitsuro Hikime -- 蜜蝋引き目 -- is a an ancient Japanese wax technique dating back more than 1300 years. 

The words Mitsuro Hikime mean mitsu (honey), ro (wax), and hiki (drawing), me (texture). 

This blended wax is a combination of pine resin and beeswax. It's also know as taffy wax.

This technique is growing in popularity. It takes a little practice to master and we hope to be offering classes soon.

These wax blocks were created using authentic recipes and don't need to be mixed with  anything, they're ready to use straight away. The melting point of Mitsuro Hikime is much lower than regular jeweller's wax. So if you keep it in your hands, your body heat should be enough to prevent it from hardening. As long as it's in your hands, you can keep forming it.
