Stone Setting in Wax Workshop

WE ARE NO LONGER OFFERING THIS CLASS. PLEASE GET IN TOUCH IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE YOU CAN LEARN ONLINE OR IN-PERSON.

Stone Setting in Wax is very addictive. Once you have these skills, you'll be making pieces for everyone.

This intermediate level workshop is a follow-on from our Lost Wax Silver Ring Workshop . In this class, you'll learn how to set stones to be cast-in-place and then put this into practice to create a ring (or two) in wax that will be then cast into silver.

On the first day you work with wax to carve your ring, create your settings or set your stones in wax. The wax rings are then sent to Melbourne to be cast in silver (15 grams of silver and one casting fee are included in the course cost) or gold or platinum (at an additional cost). We gather again for half a day, two or three weeks later so you can clean and polish the ring and set any stones.

Many types of stones can't be cast in the wax, as they can't take the heat of the casting process. So it's important to use the right gemstones when casting stones in place.

For some inspiration on cast setting in wax check out the Pod Jewellery Pinterest board on Lost Wax Ring Making .

PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS HELD OVER TWO DAYS. FIRST DAY 9:30AM-4PM, SECOND DAY 9AM-1PM OR 2-6PM.

You must have completed the Lost Wax Silver Ring Workshop  or Lost Wax classes elsewhere before booking this class.
