Genuine Smith Little Torch with Five Tips

This Smith® Little Torch™ is a fantastic torch and extremely versatile. We use this one in the studio for soldering and melting metal for sand casting and cuttlefish casting.

Easily complete delicate soldering tasks with the included size three tip that produces a flame the size of a pin head or use the Little Torch™ melting tip (available separately) to melt up to three ounces of gold or silver for casting.

The lightweight system reduces hand and arm fatigue, allowing you to work more comfortably during longer periods of use. Flexible hoses make the torch easy to use and more agile.

 Includes

  • Torch handpiece
  • Two 1.8 metre hoses. (one fuel - red, one oxygen - green) with 5/8 inch connections only, which are suitable for use in Australia.
  • Five torch tips, sizes #3–#7

You will also need both LPG and Oxygen bottles along with a LPG regulator and an Oxygen regulator. Both gas and oxygen hoses will also require flashback arrestors. You can pick these up from BOC. This torch has Australian gas connections.

Regulators

You will need a regulator for your gas and oxygen cylinder. These connect to the top of the cylinder and allow you to 'regulate' the output pressure of the gas. Fine adjustments can be made by the valves on the torch itself. But you need to ensure that torch has sufficient pressure. Too much pressure and the flame will simply blow out and be uncontrollable. Too little pressure and the flame will be small and won’t give the heat you need.

Flashback Arrestors

These are small brass tubes which attach to the Oxygen and fuel hoses. In the event of fire tracking down the hose the flashback arrestor cuts off the gas from that point onwards. Usually, they are fitted close to the torch, to protect the hoses. But in the case of the Smith Little Torch the hoses are pre attached, so the flashback arrestors will be attached between the regulators and the hose. As mentioned above, ensure that you get the correct fitting for your Smiths’ hose and your regulator. Your torch will work fine without them and is in no way going to burst into flames, but these inexpensive arrestors are a simple additional safety feature and well worth the small price. Once purchased they will last indefinitely, but if triggered (by a fire) they will need to be replaced.

The magnetic Smith® Little Torch™ holder   is also available.
