Matt Wax Matter Mitre Box and Saw

The Matter Box is a convenient and time-saving device. You can slice wax ring tubes and bars into tablets with perfectly straight and parallel walls, or tapered sides.

Includes hand saw with solid wooden handle and fine steel blade for effortless cutting and a smooth finish.
It also includes a stop lock for cutting multiple tablets or ring slices of the same size.
The box has three cutting slots; one in the centre for cutting parallel walls, and two on the sides for cutting tapered walls.
The stop may be set if more than one tablet of the same thickness is needed.

Using this saw and mitre block saves wax and you'll spend far less time cleaning up your wax piece after cutting the wax.

This mitre box is used in the Pod Studio during our Lost Wax Silver Ring Workshops. This product is also available as part of the Ultimate Lost Wax Jewellery Tool Kit and the Ultimate Lost Wax Jewellery Tool Kit (minus tools from the Premium Kit).

We have been using the Matt mitre box in the studio now for a few years and it allows you to cut neat straight lines on wax tubes and blocks of wax. Using this saw and mitre block saves wax and you'll spend far less time cleaning up your wax piece after cutting the wax.

I’m always looking for more cost effective options and there are cheaper mitre boxes on the market, so I recently bought one to test it out. Unfortunately these cheaper mitre boxes are actually not made for cutting wax, as the sides of the box are much lower than the height of wax tubes and sliced wax. This makes them completely useless, as there is nothing to guide the saw in a straight line.

Eco-Friendly Packaging

We believe it’s our responsibility to help reduce waste, which is why we do our best to ensure our packaging is recyclable and biodegradable.

We are actively working with our manufacturers to help reduce the plastic packaging used in the products we buy. We’re trying our hardest to reduce, remove or reuse plastic. An exception is our A4 copper sheets, which are packaged in recycled zip lock bags, as we’re unable to source biodegradable zip lock bags in this size.

We try to reuse cardboard boxes, so your order might arrive in a box that has been used before. We also use new boxes made from recycled materials that we encourage you to use again.

Our packing tape, padded mailing satchels, packing peanuts and bubble wrap are biodegradable and compostable. Wherever possible, we use biodegradable zip lock bags.

100% Carbon neutral shipping

Transportation used to ship orders burns fossil fuels and generates carbon emissions. Those emissions trap heat, leading to climate change. Pod Jewellery offsets the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from every shipment.

Misturo hikime wax

No instructions come with it. I have found it to be a bit too soft to form properly and no way of knowing what to do about it. Could be a good starting point if there was some back up.
