This lost wax kit covers both halves of making lost wax jewellery: carving your design in wax, and finishing the metal piece once it comes back from casting. Most wax carving tools sold as a kit stop at the wax stage. That leaves you holding a rough casting with a sprue stub and no way to clean it up. We put this kit together so that doesn't happen.
On the wax side, you start with a Matt Wax ring tube and open it up to size with the jumbo eight blade wax ring sizer, checking as you go on the ring measuring stick. Mark out your design with the dividers and scriber. Then cut it with the spiral saw blades, which cut in every direction, so you can follow tight curves without turning the saw frame. Shape and refine with the wax file and the set of five carving tools. Use the alcohol lamp to warm your tools for smoothing surfaces and joining wax.
Once your lost wax ring is cast, switch to the size 0 blades to cut off the sprue. Then use the Grobet half round hand file to bring the band back into shape. The emery and 3M polishing papers take you from 400 grit through to 8000 grit, so you can get a bright finish by hand without a polishing motor.
