Lost Wax Workshop FAQs
Can I make more than one ring in this Lost Wax Silver Ring Workshop?
Yes, 15 grams of sterling silver and the casting fee are included in the workshop fee. If you'd like to make additional rings, you'll just pay for the silver and casting fee on the additional rings.
Can I make a ring from gold or platinum?
Yes, you can make a ring from 9ct or 18ct yellow, rose or white gold or platinum. You'll be given an estimate on the cost of the gold and the casting fee. Gold prices change daily, so you'll be given a price range for how much the gold or platinum for your ring will cost.
I can't make the second half of the class, what are my options for finishing my ring?
We believe in making our workshops flexible, so it's not necessary to attend the second half of the workshop a few weeks later. You can join the second half of a lost wax workshop at a later date, these workshops are held several times a month. You can buy a lost wax tool kit and finish the ring at home. You can finish your ring in a private workshop.
Are the rings cast during the workshop?
No. The wax rings are sent to a casting house in Melbourne to be cast. The beauty of using a casting house is you can continue to make your own pieces of jewellery after the workshop and have them cast at the same place. So there's no need to invest in expensive casting equipment for your own studio.
Can I buy tools so I can make my own pieces when I get home?
Absolutely. The Ultimate Lost Wax Jewellery Tool Kit includes all the wax tools you need. These jewellers tools are also are also available to purchase as individual items. Many wax jewellery tool kits contain cheap files, saws and ring sizers that damage your work. These kits have a high quality saw, files, ring sizer, and wax pen. So you won't need to upgrade your tools in the future.
