Lost Wax Workshop FAQs
Can I make more than one ring in this Lost Wax Silver Ring Workshop?
Yes, 15 grams of sterling silver and the casting fee are included in the workshop fee. If you'd like to make additional rings, you'll need to pay for the silver and casting fee on the additional rings.
Can I make a ring from gold?
Yes, you can make a ring from 9ct or 18ct yellow, rose or white gold. You will be given a quote on the cost of the gold and the casting fee. Gold prices change daily, so we provide you with a price range of how much the gold for your ring will cost.
I can't make the second half of the class, what are my options for finishing my ring?
We believe in making our workshops flexible, so it's not necessary to attend the second half of the workshop one week later. You can join the second half of a lost wax workshop at a later date, these workshops are held every month. You can buy a lost wax tool kit and finish the ring at home. You can finish your ring in a private workshop. Private workshops start at $330 for a three hour minimum and then $110 for every hour afterwards.
Are the rings cast during the workshop?
No. The wax rings are taken to a casting house in Melbourne to be cast. The beauty of this is that you can continue to make your own pieces of jewellery after the workshop and have them cast at the same place. So there's no need to invest in expensive casting equipment for your own studio.
Can I buy tools so I can make my own pieces when I get home?
We have put together the Ultimate Lost Wax Jewellery Tool Kit and individual tools are also available for purchase.
What styles of jewellery can be made in this workshop?
You can see pieces made by past students on our Lost Wax Silver Ring Pinterest Board. You can also check out our Lost Wax Pinterest Board where we have collected thousands of images of Lost Wax Jewellery to inspire you.
I'm not creative, will I be able to make a piece that looks good?
Creating jewellery from wax is something anyone can do. It's also really therapeutic and a number or past students have started their own jewellery making small businesses after completing this workshop.
