Misturo hikime wax

No instructions come with it. I have found it to be a bit too soft to form properly and no way of knowing what to do about it. Could be a good starting point if there was some back up.

Brick hard and near impossible

Brick hard and near impossible to saw through. Has to be grated and scraped to get bits for melting. Also very difficult to work the piece afterwards with none of the expected strands and ridges appearing despite ‘kneading’ and pulling .the warmed wax.

It's an intriguing product to

It's an intriguing product to use with potential for creativity and the ability to create some unique looking pieces. The smell is a little bothersome to me but you do get used to it for the most part.
I had trouble working this wax though as I found it would get soft and very sticky too quickly and once it reaches a certain temperature and consistency it is almost unusable until it cools again.
For a warmer, humid climate like QLD it is possibly not the best for working with unless you have decent air conditioning (I've had to keep my pieces in the fridge or they stay tacky forever). Also, beware it gets stuck to EVERYTHING when it's warm, so use baking/wax paper to cover your mandrels and tools etc.
Though I like the shapes the wax creates, I found the look to be very homogeneous after a while - all the rings tend to look the same, a bit of a one trick pony so to speak - and grew bored after the second time I attempted to use it, however, this may also have been due to the frustration of being unable to use it properly due to the overly sticky nature of the material.
I think this wax is worth a try if you're interested in trying new materials and techniques, just be aware of how sticky it can get in our climate, particularly in summer.

Such an interesting and fun

Such an interesting and fun tactile wax to work with, which results in some lovely organic cast jewellery. The block of wax is ready formulated and easy to prepare. It takes a while to get the wax into a workable state (by pulling and stretching) to reach the desired texture. Definitely recommend if you’re up for something different! :sparkling_heart:

I always shop at Pod

I always shop at Pod Jewellery as a first choice. This wax is tricky at first, with some practice very lovely to work with.

HI Leah,
I'm so glad you've been able to work with this wax. It's pretty amazing and it's so new here in Australia. Your piece looks fantastic. Thanks for posting a photo.
