German Jewellers Dead Blow Mallet - 25mm head

If you only ever own one mallet, make it this one. We hunted hard to find a dead blow hammer of this quality and we've been using it in the studio ever since. The previous mallets we had are now retired.

The head of this Halder mallet is filled with steel shot, which is what makes it a dead blow. When you strike, the shot shifts forward with a slight delay, which concentrates the force of the impact and dramatically reduces rebound. The result is a powerful, controlled strike with very little vibration coming back through your hand. That's easier on your joints and better for your work.

The nylon head means it won't mar your metal, which is the other reason jewellers reach for a mallet over a steel hammer. You can flatten, shape, forge, and form metal without leaving marks, which saves time on finishing. We use this dead blow mallet in the studio for sizing rings on a mandrel, bending bangles, flattening sheet metal, and forming. The 25mm head is a practical size for jewellery work.

If you ever manage to wear this mallet out, both the handle and the nylon inserts are replaceable.

Worth knowing:

  • Dead blow design concentrates impact force and reduces rebound
  • Nylon head won't mar or mark metal surfaces
  • Steel shot-filled head for powerful, low-vibration strikes
  • Made in Germany by Halder
  • Handle and nylon inserts are replaceable
  • Also included in most of our jewellery making kits the Premium Jewellery Tool Starter Kit
