Sterling Silver Solder Sheet

Silver solder is what joins sterling silver and fine silver pieces together, and choosing the right grade makes a real difference to how cleanly your work comes out. This solder sheet comes in four grades: Extra Easy, Easy, Medium, and Hard, each with a different flow temperature. Understanding which to use and when is one of the key skills in silver soldering.

The general principle is to start with Hard solder for your first join, then work down through Medium, Easy, and Extra Easy for subsequent joins on the same piece. Because each grade flows at a progressively lower temperature, earlier joins won't re-open while you work on new ones. The flow temperatures are in the dropdown below.

The sheet format gives you flexibility. You cut your own pallions from the tab using German-made straight shears or scissors, so you're never locked into a fixed size. Smaller pallions for delicate joins, larger pieces when you need more flow. Each tab is approximately 30mm x 15mm x 0.3mm, which gives you plenty of solder to work with.

This is Australian-made silver solder, and solder is one of those things where quality genuinely matters. Inconsistent or impure solder flows unpredictably, and that makes an already technical process harder than it needs to be.

If you're new to silver soldering, the solder wire version is also available and some people find wire easier to cut into consistent pieces when starting out.
