A few different brushes do very specific jobs at the jewellery bench, and having the right one for each task makes a difference. This collection covers the main ones we use in the studio as part of our soldering supplies.
The brass brushes are for post-pickle finishing: after a piece comes out of the pickle, a brass brush with a drop of washing-up liquid removes the last of the oxidation and flux residue and gives the surface a soft satin sheen. We stock three versions at different price points, Japanese-made, the new wooden-handle option, and the German-made brush when back in stock.
The acrylic washout brush doubles as a flux brush for applying flux during soldering, and the file cleaning brush is the one to reach for when your files start clogging with metal residue. Running it along the teeth clears the debris and brings the file back to cutting properly.
