Blue is the softest of our matt carving waxes, which makes this A1 flat top tube a solid pick for most ring work. It's cast with a centre hole and a flat top, giving you extra height to work with if you're shaping a signet ring or any design with a raised face. If you need more width than the A1 gives you, the A3 sized tube is the better fit.
These tubes are made for carving a lost wax ring, the process where you shape your ring in wax first, then cast it in metal. You can saw, carve and drill into the wax without it softening in your hands, so the shape and any detail you've carved holds even after handling it on the bench for a while.
Being the softest wax in our range, blue suits most ring styles well, wide bands, chunky signet tops, and pieces you're building up or texturing rather than cutting fine, crisp lines into. It melts out cleanly at 107°C, so there's nothing extra to plan for once you're ready to cast.
