Quality  28mm Chasing Hammer

A good chasing hammer is one of the most versatile jewellers hammers you can have on your bench. This one has been well tested in our studio and holds up to regular use without any issues. It sits at a price point that makes it accessible without cutting corners on quality, and it performs well alongside hammers that cost significantly more.

The two faces do different jobs. The larger slightly domed face is for flattening, shaping, and general forming work on metal. The smaller round end is for texturing, where you use repeated strikes to build up a hammered finish across the surface of a piece. Both faces are polished smooth so they don't transfer marks to your metal the way a rougher face would.

One important note: this is a jewellers hammer designed for use on precious metal only. Do not use it on steel, and do not use it with disc cutters or metal stamps. Striking anything steel will damage the polished faces over time, and the head is not designed for that kind of impact.

If you're looking to step up in the future, the Fretz chasing hammer is the premium version of this tool and available separately.

Worth knowing:

  • Two working faces: domed face for forming, round end for texturing
  • Polished faces won't transfer marks to metal
  • For use on precious metal only, not for use on steel, disc cutters, or stamps
  • Tested and used in our studio
  • Also included in the High Quality Economy Jewellery Tool Starter Kit
