Steel Bezel Pusher and Prong Pusher

A bezel pusher is the tool you use to fold the bezel wall down over a stone and secure it in place. You hold the flat face of the pusher against the top edge of the bezel, lean it slightly toward the stone, and work your way around, pushing a small section at a time. Done evenly, this brings the bezel down tight against the stone without distortion or gaps. It's one of the core stone setting tools for anyone doing bezel work.

This one can also be used as a prong pusher for pushing prongs down over a stone. The flat steel face is polished to minimise marking on the metal surface as you work.

The pusher comes at full length from the factory, but the How to Use section below recommends cutting it to a length that suits you if you have access to a grinder. A shorter tool gives you better control and is more comfortable to hold during setting. Many jewellers do this as a matter of course, so don't be put off by the full length as supplied.

The hardwood handle is comfortable to grip and the steel shank is solid. It's a straightforward, reliable tool and well priced.

Worth knowing:

  • Flat polished steel face minimises marks on metal
  • Suitable for bezel setting and prong setting
  • Can be cut to a shorter length for better control if you have access to a grinder
  • Hardwood handle
  • Also included in the Jewellers Stone Setting Tool Kit
