Cross-locking tweezers work the opposite way to standard tweezers: you squeeze to open them, then release and they close on their own. That self-locking action is what makes them so useful at the soldering bench. You position your piece, release your grip, and the tweezers hold it in place while you pick up the torch. No need to hold metal steady with one hand while trying to solder with the other.
These are the straight version, which suits most general-purpose soldering work. The serrated stainless steel tips grip metal well without slipping, and at 162mm they give you enough reach to position pieces on a soldering board without getting your hand too close to the heat. The fibre-insulated handles are the other key feature: they don't conduct heat back to your fingers the way bare metal handles do, which makes a real difference during longer soldering sessions.

The straight version handles most situations, while the curved tweezers are handy when you need to reach around a piece or hold something at an angle.
