This D2 tube is a round, even-diameter blank rather than the flat-top A1 shape, which makes it the better starting point for a wedding ring or any wax band you want carrying a consistent width all the way round. If your design needs extra height on one face, like a signet ring, the A1 flat top tube suits that shape better.
Like the rest of our matt wax range, this tube is made for carving a lost wax ring, the process where you shape your ring in wax first and cast it in metal afterwards. It saws, carves and drills cleanly, and holds its shape in your hands rather than softening as you work it.
Blue is the softest wax we stock, so it's a forgiving choice whether you're making your first wax for rings or you're used to working faster with a firmer wax. It melts out at 115.5°C, so nothing extra to account for when you get to casting.
