If you already own our Essential Soldering Kit, this is the Delft clay sand casting kit that fills the gap. It contains only the casting-specific pieces, so you're not paying twice for tools that are already on your bench, and you can start casting silver at home with the soldering setup you have.
At its heart is genuine Delft clay from the Netherlands, supplied with its two-part flask. You press your model into the clay to form the mould, pour in molten metal, and lift out your cast piece once it cools. The clay is reusable. After each cast you cut away the small amount burnt by the hot metal, and the rest goes straight back into the bag. Kept sealed, it holds its moisture for five to eight years, and we've had the same bag going in our studio for years. That makes this casting clay one of the most economical ways to get into metal casting.
For melting, you get the WHIP crucible holder with small and medium crucibles, plus 500g of borax powder for seasoning them before their first use. We've also included 20g of sterling silver casting granules, so you can pour your first piece the day the kit arrives. A steel ruler rounds it out for measuring your models. When you're ready for more metal, our casting grain range has sterling and fine silver granules for silver casting.
