Complete Delft Clay Casting Kit with Torch

Delft clay casting is one of the simplest ways to start casting metal jewellery at home. You press a model or object into the reusable clay, create a two-part mould, pour in molten metal, and reveal your finished piece once it cools. There's no kiln, no investment plaster, and no long setup time. The process is direct and satisfying, and the clay can be reused many times.

This kit includes everything you need to get started: the Delft clay casting kit with flask and clay, a crucible holder and two crucibles (small and medium), 500g borax powder, 500g citric acid pickle, a ceramic soldering board, 20g of sterling silver casting granules, copper tongs, a brass brush, a stainless steel ruler, and a slow cooker for the pickle pot.

The Smith Little Torch is the torch we'd choose for Delft clay casting. It runs on LPG and oxygen and produces a precisely controllable flame that's powerful enough to melt silver and gold for small casts without overheating the metal. Two Tesuco regulators and two flashback arrestors are included. You will need to source LPG and oxygen cylinders separately, as these cannot be shipped.

The clay in this kit is the same clay we've been using in the studio for eight years and it's still going strong. A small amount of burnt clay needs to be removed after each use, but the rest is fully reusable. The clay retains its moisture levels for between five and eight years, making it an economical material to work with over time. New crucibles need to be seasoned with borax powder before the first use.
