Complete Delft Clay Casting Kit

Delft clay casting is one of the simplest ways to start casting metal jewellery at home. You press a model or object into the reusable clay, create a two-part mould, pour in molten metal, and reveal your finished piece once it cools. There's no kiln, no investment plaster, and no long setup time.

This kit contains all the casting materials and equipment you need, minus the torch and slow cooker, which you source separately. It's the right kit if you already have a soldering torch capable of melting silver or gold, and a slow cooker for your pickle pot.

The kit includes the Delft clay casting flask and clay, a crucible holder and two crucibles (small and medium), 500g borax powder, 500g citric acid pickle, a ceramic soldering board, 20g of sterling silver casting granules, copper tongs, a brass brush, and a stainless steel ruler. The full list with links is in the What's Included section below.

The clay is the same clay we've been using in the studio for eight years and it's still going strong. A small amount of burnt clay needs to be removed after each use, but the rest is fully reusable. The clay retains its moisture levels for between five and eight years. New crucibles need to be seasoned with borax powder before first use.

If you also need a torch, the Complete Delft Clay Casting Kit with Smith Little Torch has everything in this kit plus the torch, regulators, flashback arrestors, and slow cooker. If you have the Essential Soldering Kit already, the Delft Clay Casting Kit minus the Essential Soldering Kit tools saves you doubling up on items you already own.

Because this kit is specially priced, additional discounts don't apply and items cannot be changed, substituted, or removed.

Worth knowing:

  • 12 pieces covering all casting materials and equipment except the torch and slow cooker
  • Suitable for casting silver, gold, copper, and brass
  • The same setup we use in the studio
  • Step-by-step casting instructions available to download in the How to Use section below
